What's New?

This page contains information about the instruments I've completed or those I'm currently working on.  I will be adding links to photos of my instruments on a regular basis.Unfortunately, for the past several months I've been woefully negligent in updating my website.  I hope to remedy that in the weeks to come.

As of early March, 2008, there are three fine workshops who are offering my violins for sale.  If you are interested in auditioning an example of my work you may contact me or one of the following establishments:

Examples of my past work

rough scroll for my 'petite' Guarneri del Gesu violinIn the spring of 2003 I completed a 'petite' sized violin inspired by the early instruments of Joseph Guarneri del Gesu.   It is designed specifically with the comfort of the musician in mind, with a slightly narrower neck, a shorter body stop and string length, slightly more rounded upper bouts, and a fractionally shorter body length than other violin models I construct. This model has been well regarded by musicians wishing a slightly smaller violin but who will not sacrifice an expanded tonal palette or the overall carrying power of the instrument.  If you're interested in auditioning a violin built upon this slightly smaller pattern you can reach me in my Seattle workshop Monday through Friday at (206) 478-9603.

During the Fall of 2002 I constructed a small pattern violin for baroque performance.   This violin is modeled after one by Jacob Stainer, ca. 1655.  Photos of this instrument are in my Gallery

I've added photos of a Baroque Cello after David Tecchler, in Rome, ca. 1711, I constructed and sold in 1997.  This is a beautiful instrument has a one-piece slab back and deep amber varnish, as the photos show,.  I've also added photos of a Baroque Violin after Jacob Stainer I constructed in 1991.  This instrument has a stunning birds-eye maple back with matching ribs and has been in the hands of a professional musician for a decade now.

A 15 11/16 inch (398mm) viola that I placed with a talented young musician is built on the same pattern as a viola for classical period performance I built in 1999. This model, because of its comfortable size, is very easy to get around on and produces a rich penetrating viola sound.

If you're interested in acquiring one of my violins, violas or cellos or wish to explore the idea of having an instrument made specially for you please feel free to contact me.  You can receive the most complete information about my work, including price and availability by  contacting me at my Seattle workshop at (206) 478-9603.  If I'm not available you may leave a message on my answering machine and I'll contact you as soon as I'm able.
